LHDN's free MyInvois Portal is a perfectly reasonable way to comply with e-Invoice — for some businesses. But we talk to a lot of Malaysian business owners who are quietly suffering through it every month. Here's how to tell if that's you.
The MyInvois Portal is built for manual, one-at-a-time entry. If you're issuing more than a handful of invoices a month, you're probably re-typing customer names, addresses, and item details every single time — data that software would simply remember from your customer database.
A single wrong TIN, mismatched customer detail, or formatting slip can get an e-Invoice rejected, forcing you to redo it. The more manual entry you do, the more this happens. Software reduces this by validating and reusing saved customer records.
The Portal handles LHDN submission — it doesn't track outstanding payments, customer history, or sales trends. If you're managing that separately (or not managing it at all), you're doing two jobs where software would do one.
Once you're selling through WooCommerce or a marketplace as well as in person, manually re-entering online orders into the Portal becomes a full-time chore. Software with e-commerce integration syncs this automatically.
The Portal can work fine at low volume. But if your transaction volume is climbing and your mandatory e-Invoice phase has started or is close, the manual approach that worked at 10 invoices a month won't hold up at 100.
