If you've been putting off dealing with e-Invoice because it feels overwhelming, you're not alone — and panicking isn't a strategy. Here's a calm, practical checklist to work through instead.
Not every business has the same deadline — LHDN's rollout is phased by annual revenue. The first step is simply confirming which phase applies to you, using LHDN's official MyInvois resources or our implementation timeline guide. Many owners spend weeks anxious about a deadline that turns out to be months away — or, just as often, discover it's sooner than they thought.
Registration and actual usage are two different things. If you haven't logged into the MyInvois Portal at all yet, that's your first concrete task — it costs nothing and takes a few minutes.
Low volume, comfortable doing manual data entry: the free portal may be enough. Growing volume, multiple staff, or online + offline sales: software will save real time. See our free readiness assessment if you're not sure which camp you're in.
Whichever route you choose, e-Invoice submission needs structured data — customer names, TINs where applicable, item descriptions, amounts. If this is currently scattered across WhatsApp chats and paper receipts, consolidating it is the single biggest time investment, and worth doing before your deadline, not during it.
Whether through the free portal or software, submit a real e-Invoice as a trial run while there's no pressure. It's much easier to fix a mistake in a test transaction than to learn the process for the first time on deadline day.
If you have an accountant or bookkeeper, loop them in early. They may already have preferences on data format or software, and catching misalignment early avoids rework later.
